Thank you for visiting. My work is Pilates. My mission is to help you feel better in the body you live in, with whatever your lifestyle demands. To guide you to feeling good about movement and that means enjoyment and challenge!
I believe we can all benefit from the Pilates method, whatever your lifestyle, age or ability. I love to teach and share the work of Joseph Pilates, getting creative and curious about how each and everyone one of us can access it. I dedicate time and commitment to all the people I teach, always with a constant passion for learning and sharing.
The people I teach are often my best teachers. It's one thing having a teacher who can demonstrate a great Teaser, but a totally different skill to develop confidence in others to try for themselves and feel good whatever the outcome. If we laugh along the way, even better!
I have been a teacher for 18 years and will never stop learning. My high school biology teacher first inspired me to learn about the human body. Twenty years later I was that Biology teacher!
In 2003 I found myself unable to move in a hospital bed, without any memory of what happened, I discovered I'd been cut free from a car wreckage. Fortunately I had survived a head-on collision, then, like many Pilates teachers, I went on to discover the benefits of more movement, first Yoga, then Pilates.
Alongside teaching Biology, I qualified to teach Mat Pilates. In 2016 I switched off the Bunsen burner for the last time and committed fully to my true passion, Pilates.
I believe the teachings of Joseph Pilates remain a valuable prompt for all of us to think about how we were designed to move, rather than how modern life forces us to move (or not!). How being closer to nature and getting outdoors is essential for our body, mind and spirit.
After living in the Isle of Man for 12 years I discovered a real and surprising connection with Mr Pilates himself. During the First World War Joseph Pilates was interned as an 'enemy alien' at Knockaloe Farm, Isle of Man. It's fascinating to think of all of the corners of the world he may have been, he was working on his method right where I lived.
One of my favourite sayings.
"Everything is connected!"
Who do I teach and what do they say?
Everyone!
What I love the most is when I see people enjoy moving. Moving with more joy, freedom and confidence, hearing how their mobility, posture, mood or flexibility has improved. And that’s the ultimate goal - to live better through movement and in the words of Joseph Pilates, "Return to life".
Many of my students tell me they feel different in just a couple of sessions. Some find they only fully realise how much they've improved when they take a break or go on holiday, and I hear... "I've missed it!"
